SENIOR PREFECTS

HON.BUSIA OPOKU PRINCE AND HON. ESTHER K. DUAH

HON. ASENSO EMMANUEL (ASSIST. BOYS' PREFECT) AND HON. SARAH ADWOA FORKUOH(ASSIST. GIRLS' PREFECT) THE MANTLE OF LEADERSHIP(PREFECTSHIP) Beloved, it is biblically quoted that '' what ever has a beginning has an end'' taking up leadership positions were not for fashion but to discharge duties to help our colleagues to act towards what they are in our educational institution to achieve. it is every student's dream to come out with flying colors after a long study in school, but one must know that where good things can be found, evil and satanic spirits are around. So we've being wise enough and that really help us extricate from all unpleasant situations. But then, one should know that failures in life shouldn't take control over you because with God all things are possible. Prefectship comes with many things; prefectorial functions involve sacrificing time to do things in other to help the school. Most people take position but do not discharge their responsibilities well. Similarly, one must know that God has given this school to us to take good care of it for him and whatever you do you shall be questioned in the near future(accountability). Prefects are a group of administrative assistance who help to control the school to put things into good shape. One thing that a prefect should know is the right channel of communication. That is, how to present the problems of your people to the authorities through the right channel. House prefects are to direct it to to the senior prefects, then to their respective house masters. Similarly, dinning hall issues are also to be directed to the senior prefect and then to the dining hall master. You should involve the senior prefects in all cases in other to help them in writing their reports to the authorities. As a prefect, in your own capacity, you should be able to help resolve conflict which may arise among students, and between students and masters. things which may be difficult for the Prefects to solve may be directed to seek advise from the Guidance And Counseling Unit most especially. Students leaders must also allow their followers to share their views about whatever may be going on, if necessary. The vibrant Students Representation Council could also serve as a medium through which students or followers could also channel their problems. Aside that, leaders are to be jolly for easy approach so that students can come to them and tell them their problems and suggestions. Prefects are to be descent, diligent, respect each other, honest to the authorities, respect teachers and the Headmaster. Also they are to be accountable to their colleagues to help their colleagues know and appreciate the good intentions of the school authority. Prefects should ensure a cordial relationship between themselves and teachers so that it would encourage them to give out their best than ever in class. Being a prefect, your academic work could be interrupted. 'PARLON', as the school jargon goes, cannot take you to anywhere but rather waste your time, destroy your future and end you in hardship. It is very difficult to combine prefectorial functions with academic work. You are not the first neither the last to be successful. Always have time for your books despite all things which may come your way, ''no pain, no gain''. Your academic work is paramount, so set a good pace for your colleagues to follow. Beloved, let prayers be your weapon. Leadership experience could take you somewhere so do not just be a prefect but a good leader in the school. Always try to work hard wherever you go and I know with the Blessing of God shall become a role-model for others. May the good lord be with you. Great Osec!
